Brown 4
Brown 4 develops from the figure of forms introduced in Brown 2 and Brown 3, exploring their generative potential while marking the conclusion of the Brown series. The drawing begins to separate from earlier intentions, while still retaining traces of the structures that shaped it.
This separation remains incomplete. Elements of the series persist, creating a tension between continuation and departure. The work holds this instability, allowing fragments to shift and accumulate without resolving into a stable condition.
Unlike earlier studies, the drawing do not attempt a coherent visual framework, but establishes a a more unsettled state. Forms appear through interruption and fragmentation, producing a field where clarity is continually deferred.
Brown 4 resists forward resolution. The drawing closes the series by holding itself in a condition of impossible suspension, where progression gives way to pause, and the work remains unresolved.
