Sorry Christos
Sorry Christos originates from a textual reflection by Dr Christos Kalakis which is translated through a system of signs and scripts conceived by Dr Alex Blanchard. These scripts are then reworked through drawings by David Boyd, generating a series of visual translations.
Some translations retain a more perceivable relationship to the source material, where signs are carried into formal extrusions. Others move toward abstraction, shaped by composition, proportion, and visual rhythm rather than explicit reference. The drawing shifts between these modes intentionally, always fluctuating between clarity and ambiguity.
Through this unstable process, a range of conditions emerge. The work extends earlier studies by developing more complex relationships between parts, allowing the drawing to operate as a field of material translation rather than only composition.
